Butler Rose is working with one of the largest housing associations in London and the south-east in their search for a Year-end Accountant to join their Finance Reporting Team. This is a 6 months contract in London and will pay £325 a day to the successful candidate.

This role is responsible for production, upkeep and delivery of external audit project management documentation and controls. Project manage the year-end reporting cycle including the relationship between Finance, Governance and External Audit.

Duties:

• To prepare electronic audit files for the client group and its subsidiary companies
• To own the online tracker portal prepared by the Auditors and to liaise with all internal staff to ensure all issues raised are resolved in a timely manner
• To undertake quality control checks on responses to ensure client is providing high quality assurance
• To liaise with the external auditors on a regular basis to discuss progress and address bottlenecks arising
• To develop and maintain a robust control environment for the year-end external audit process and to seek continuous improvement
• To contribute to other Finance and corporate projects outside of the year-end cycle including the live Finance Transformation project.

Ideal candidate will have:

• CCAB/CIMA recognised qualified accountant - preferably ACA/ACCA
• Practical experience of working in an audit practice and/or project managing the relationship with external auditors
• Experience of reviewing financial transactions, coding of financial transactions and reconciliations.
• Experience in the preparation of legal entity accounts. These should ideally include Limited Liability Partnerships, Limited Companies, Registered Providers and Charities
• Financial statement literate with a good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Clear understanding of the regulatory framework of accounting
