Family Carer Partnership Board Independent Chair
Working with Suffolk County Council, Suffolk and North East Essex ICB, voluntary sector organisations and family carers.
Role: Chair of the Family Carer Partnership Board (FCPB)
Responsible to: This is an independent role working in partnership with statutory partners, voluntary organisations and individual family carers.
Role Description (what you would do): Chair the FCPB meetings which take place 4 times a year on a quarterly basis and which are usually face to face at Suffolk Family Carers in Claydon.
Chair the meeting, ensuring excellent facilitation and timeliness. Encourage all members of the meeting to contribute, enable all to feel confident and safe to speak, challenge constructively where necessary and facilitate decision making.
Read the minutes and papers in preparation for the meeting.
Meet online with FCPB steering group members prior to each FCPB meeting, to set the agenda for the forthcoming meeting.
Attend the FCPB Health and Wellbeing Board Oversight Committee at Endeavour House, which occurs every 2 months.
Contribute in other ways to projects and plans where appropriate.
Time commitment: The time commitment varies. On average, the time commitment is approximately 5 hours per month.
Payment: This is a voluntary role with the opportunity to claim reasonable expenses from Suffolk County Council.

Experience and knowledge
Experience of having been a family carer
Experience of chairing meetings and excellent chairing skills
Experience of a leadership role in the public, private or voluntary sector
Knowledge of health and social care
Skills and behaviours
Commitment to supporting family carers in Suffolk

Ability to enable carers’ voices to be heard
Ability to challenge when necessary and hold partners to account
