Regulatory Solicitor – Associate / Senior Associate (HSE) – The Manchester office of this international law firm is looking for a regulatory solicitor to work with one of the senior equity partners within the practice group. Candidates are being considered at Senior Associate level from roughly 4 PQE+. You may have a background in health and safety, food safety and environmental investigations. Candidates with a background in criminal regulatory work should also certainly apply.

Blend of contentious and non-contentious regulatory work

The Regulatory team handles a mix of on contentious and non-contentious regulatory work. On the non-contentious side, lawyers advise clients on important regulatory matters such as health and safety protocols, environmental regulations and other policies to ensure companies maintain compliance. The team helps implement workable policies and schemes to make sure clients remain compliant and adhere to the law wherever necessary. The department is responsible to writing, producing and applying regulatory policies particularly for businesses which are at a high risk of exposure.

The contentious work undertaken by the firm is often extremely high-profile, sometimes involving organisations who may be subject to criminal prosecutions due to a breach of their regulatory responsibilities. The team advises on all aspects of regulatory breaches including assisting clients in mounting internal investigation and demonstrating full co-operation with external regulatory and compliance bodies. Their work also includes breaches that result in the most serious claims, such as criminal charges for corporate manslaughter. Clients are advised on not just the fundamental aspects of the law, but also how to manage a breach and ensure the correct steps are taken as soon as possible to remedy the breach and subsequent fallout.
