It is essential that the applicant has an interest in research, be flexible with a ‘can do’ approach. They must be able to demonstrate that they can prioritise and adjust their workload in relation to the requirements of multiple priorities.

Previous experience as a Research Nurse would be advantageous as would experience of working in Mental Health Services. However applicants who are able to demonstrate a broad range of relevant clinical skills, experience and knowledge that can be transferred to a clinical research setting will be considered. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, clinically astute, and motivated Registered Nurse to support a portfolio of research projects.

We take considerable pride in our staff and strongly encourage growth and development of individuals within the team.

  • Facilitate and maintain effective communication within the research team and between the multidisciplinary team
  • Increase the level of knowledge & skills within the Trust through sharing best practice and supporting others to develop their professional abilities
  • Work autonomously to manage own studies and as a lead, reporting progress to the Research manager
  • Plan the specialist nursing care of patients enrolled into research studies/clinical trials, monitor, and evaluate their progress
  • Identify and recruit patients to participate in clinical studies ensuring they meet the relevant criteria and good clinical practice guidelines are followed
  • Support patients in making an informed treatment choice by providing specialist knowledge in relation to the disease process, treatment options and treatment side effects, providing on-going specialised advice and information to patients and their carers/families, regarding their participation in the study to facilitate effective and on-going valid informed consent

Working for our organisation

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
