On its own, the value of our data is significant, but usability and insights are significantly enhanced depending on how we organize our data in order to make it understandable and discoverable.
This role presents an opportunity for someone with a passion for data modelling to work within our data interoperability team to produce an enterprise-wide data model for our data platform programme. It has a number of facets; business & data analysis to gain the necessary level of understanding for the data definition and usage, production of the data model and the forward engineering of the physical implementation.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Working closely with subject matter experts to analyze the data requirements & produce a logical data model
- Identifying & addressing issues in the current state
- Participating in the generation of the physical implementation of the data model
- Executing governance related activities; producing standards & guidelines, participating in model reviews & ensuring conformance to policy
YOU'LL BRING:
- Data modelling experience, preferably within the financial services, investment & capital markets industry working on large scale data migration programmes
- Full project lifecycle implementation experience including familiarity of agile projects
- Data modelling skills and a working knowledge of the difference between conceptual, logical and physical models.
- In-depth knowledge of database structures for reference data as well as methods of working for sourcing and capturing this data
- Understanding of UML and/or logical data models
- Understanding of RDBMS’s and proficiency with SQL
- Experience of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
- Strong analytical skills with methodical and independent approach to problem solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An eagerness to learn and collaborate with others, quick learner and able to work with little supervision
- Stakeholder Management experience and skills – the ability to converse with all levels of stakeholders to understand and extract the required business requirements
- Collaborative approach
- Organization and facilitation skills for meetings & workshops and the ability to record actions and decisions
- Exposure and understanding of different agile approaches and good working knowledge of analysis tools including Jira
Preferred, but not essential…
- Experience of working within or leading small data modelling teams
- Understanding of GraphQL
- Understanding of JSON and/or XML
- Experience of leading data modelling projects, or taking a thought leadership role in virtual teams
- Experience of modelling financial services data from multiple asset classes or business domains
- Broad awareness of domain-driven design
Compensation/Benefits Information (New York City applicants only):
LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $134,600 - $250,000.
Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our annual incentive (AIP/"bonus plan"). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and commensurate experience. All roles are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG benefit program, more information & details will be provided at time of offer.
