Job description

  • The Maritime Survivability (MS) Junior Analyst will work as part of the Maritime Survivability team, itself part of the Platform Survivability Group within the Platform Systems Division.
  • The fundamental role of the MS Junior Analyst will be to provide modelling and analytical support to decision-making across a range of maritime projects/programmes. On occasion this may be extended to other domains.
  • Part of the role will involve development of survivability analysis techniques generally – this includes using the suite of modelling & simulation tools that supports the team’s work, such as the commercially available wargame/simulation Command: Modern Operations, and will involve some software development/coding using languages such as Python and Lua.
  • In due course, the MS Junior Analyst will develop into the role and will be able to lead studies and/or act as Technical Partner for work carried out externally (in industry/academia).

Working Conditions

Based at a core Dstl site in an office environment. Travel between Dstl and customer/partner sites will be required – such as Navy Command HQ (Portsmouth), MOD Abbey Wood (Bristol), MOD Main Building (London) and other Government departments.
