A rare opportunity has arisen for this senior position within our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, as Financial Controller you’ll be accountable for the delivery of our monthly balance sheet and cashflow forecast, along with the production of half and full year financial statements. You’ll lead on audit and statutory reporting, treasury and bank, and tax compliance. You’ll also have line management responsibility for our Credit Control and Accounts Payable people. This is a fascinating role with a broad remit, and highly important to the smooth and effective operation of our Finance function.
We’re looking for a fully qualified accountant who has previously worked in a similar position, or is ready to make the step up. You’ll be a strong technician with a well-rounded background encompassing all the key areas of the role, will be strong on process and controls, and will be an experienced and inspirational reader of people. The role is partly based from home and partly out of our office in Fleet, so you will need to be based locally.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering monthly Balance Sheet review including the undertaking of monthly reconciliations.
  • Owning the monthly cash flow forecast.
  • Producing annual and half year consolidated group financial statements for the group and all its subsidiaries.
  • Leading the annual audit and statutory reporting process.
  • Managing day-to-day accounting operations (Accounts Payable and Receivable).
  • Ensuring the company maintains a strong financial control environment.
  • Leading Treasury and cash management activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and liaising with advisors.
  • Ensuring intercompany reconciles and transfer pricing relationship is accurately executed.
  • Supporting strategic projects.

What we're looking for

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
  • Previous financial controller experience, or ready for a step up into the role.
  • Strong technical knowledge and an ability to see what lies behind the numbers.
  • Experience of defining and implementing processes and controls.
  • People management and leadership experience.
  • Ability to present problems and their solutions.
  • Curious with an analytical skillset and a passion for change.
  • Project and time management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
