  • Salary - Leadership pay spine (range dependent on experience)
  • Permanent
  • Full Time

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven and outstanding Early Years Lead who is passionate about improving the life-chances of children. This non-teaching leadership role as a deputy headteacher of our flagship academy, Heartsease Primary, carries with it the responsibility for EYFS leadership across the whole Trust. You will work with our central team and CEO to drive school improvement not only at Heartsease, but across all four of our Trust academies. This will allow you the opportunity to work collaboratively with a team of headteachers and school improvement leads and share your passion, skills and experience of leading Early Years across an entire organisation.

Meanwhile, as a non-teaching deputy at school level, you will lead the development of teachers, ensuring high quality teaching and learning, and you will work with the rest of the academy’s SLT to manage and mentor the next generation of teachers. You will support the Academy Headteacher with the delivery of the SIDP, management of the academy’s budget and staff team, and the leadership of whole school improvement. You will deputise for the Academy Headteacher in their absence, gaining the skills and support to become a headteacher yourself one day (should you wish to).

As educators, we recognise the importance of the Early Years Foundation Stage. It is a critical time in a child’s life where we can have the greatest impact. With two nurseries, five reception classes and two mixed age inclusion units, we have a large EYFS provision and so we owe it to children and parents to make this provision consistently outstanding. You will support the Trust’s senior management team to shape the direction of the EYFS curriculum, preparing children for their KS1 journey and beyond. And as a member of the growing SLT at two-form entry Heartsease Primary, you will be able to build on that early impact as your pupils progress through the school.

This is a demanding but rewarding role for an EYFS professional looking to take the next step in their leadership career.

We offer:

  • Training to become one of the academy’s named Designated Safeguarding Leads
  • A collaborative working environment with passionate colleagues who are not afraid to try new ways of working
  • A culture of self-reflection, intellectual curiosity and continuing learning
  • Respect for work/life balance and an ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing

We are looking for:

  • A proven Early Years leader with an evidenced track record of consistent outstanding practice
  • A teacher who is highly competent and effective in all areas of the Teachers’ Standards
  • A candidate who is committed to our pupils and our values, and who shares our passion for improving the life chances of some of Norwich’s most disadvantage pupils (whether by SEND or socio-economically)
  • A commitment to high expectations and ambition for all pupils, regardless of their starting points.
  • A candidate who understands how to professionally manage any conflict in relation to holding both a school and Trust wide role
  • A candidate who understands the professional diplomacy required when advising senior colleagues in other schools

Whilst previous experience as a deputy would be an advantage, it is not essential.
