We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral clinical-academic children’s nurse to join Nottingham Children’s Hospital and contribute to its mission in providing high quality care through impactful research, innovation, and clinical transformation.
The Clinical Assistant Professor in CYP Nursing will have advanced preparation (PhD in nursing or related field) in research principles and methodology, who also has expert content knowledge, skills and expertise in a specific clinical area. This is a unique role that pioneers innovative nursing practice in conducting scientific nursing research within a defined research plan (aligned to clinical priorities).

Working with the support of the Clinical Associate Professor for CYP and Families Nursing, the Clinical Academic Nursing Research Lead, and the Divisional/Deputy Divisional nurses, the post holder will conduct high quality clinical research. The post holder will also be expected to undertake direct clinical practice, which is critical to identify key practice problems and relate to children and their families and their needs, with a view to improving clinical practice and service delivery.

This post is substantive for 0.8 WTE. We actively welcome and encourage applicants who would like to work part-time and are seeking to be appointed for a proportion of the WTE advertised. Working days and hours will be Monday-Friday, office hours. However, hours to accommodate caring responsibilities will be considered.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To maintain an appropriate scope of practice and revalidation, in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct and other relevant professional guidance
Lead and facilitate the development of the research, ensuring alignment and adherence to guidelines protocols, patient care policies and procedures utilising; benchmarking, risk assessments and best practice guidelines. Implement and ensure best practice is embedded within care delivery.
Act as an expert professional resource for the multi-professional team, specialties, divisions and Trust.
Be a visible, accessible and assertive point of contact for staff.
In accordance with the study protocols, work with research colleagues, clinical colleagues patients and carers, taking a lead role in the collection, analysis and interpretation of the results of research.
Liaise with other research team members involved in the study, including PPI representatives and colleagues employed by various stakeholder organisations.
Lead in the development and advancement of clinical practice, emphasising the implementation of evidence-based knowledge into practice.
Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experience and act on recommendations as required.
Ensure the highest standards of patient care (metrics/audits/research/ benchmarking data) are in place and reviewed accordingly. Facilitate the development of clear action plans to address any care deficiencies and ensure agreed actions are implemented and evaluated.
Respond promptly to emerging complaints, and incidents and develop and participate in appropriate action plans in line with clinical governance. Contribute to the monitoring and control of expenditure and the use of resources.
Lead the implementation of emerging new knowledge into subsequent stages of the study and encourage and facilitate active participation of others in the study, thus promoting clinical effectiveness.
Actively encourage research activity to build up the evidence base available.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
