Cancer and Associated Specialties have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to join us in the CAS Matron team.
The Cancer and Associated Specialties Division at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust comprises of multiple specialties including Oncology, Renal, Burns & Plastics, Sarcoma, Urology, Thoracic surgery, Breast Surgery, Palliative care, Infectious diseases, Pathology and Haematology.
Our CAS Matrons are pivotal in supporting our nursing teams and the wider specialty teams.
As a Matron, the successful candidate will provide strong, visible leadership, strategic direction and nursing support to the Division , whilst also working with your specialty leadership team to ensure a safe patient journey and the best possible experience through your specialty.

Main duties of the job
The Matron will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the nursing workforce, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based nursing practice which will be delivered within a hospital, community and outreach setting
The Matron will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff
The Matron will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance and Service
Improvement, to modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated
Leading by example the Matron will drive up standards of clinical care and have the authority to get the essential components of care right for patients – clean wards and departments, quality care, ensuring patients are treated with dignity and respect, resolving problems for patients and relatives and ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the Services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Provide strong, visible, clinical leadership to energise, inspire and empower nurses and other clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective and safe delivery of services across the Division
Challenge, in a positive manner, current working practices within specialties and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Maintain professional competence, authority and credibility by undertaking regular clinical sessions and being highly visible to staff, actively seeking feedback about the quality of services.
Work closely with the Specialty and Division Leadership Teams to redesign processes in collaboration with other members of the multi-professional team in order to deliver an improved patient and staff experience and modernisation of services.
Implement systems and processes that create and maintain a culture which actively promotes staffs’ contribution to the development and delivery of clinical governance and risk management objectives.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Full time hours (Monday Friday). Minimum of two years postgraduate experience. Previous clinical experience performing a similar role.
