Risk Management is an independent function of JPMorgan Asset Management and has dedicated teams with separate reporting lines from the Asset Management (AM) business. Our culture is all about thinking outside the box, challenging the status quo and striving for best-in-class.

As AM regional Counterparty Risk Lead, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Asset Management Counterparty Risk Oversight Framework. You will work with senior members of the team in the implementation of key analytical and technology projects and serve as an AM Counterparty Risk contact for our business partners.

Job responsibilities
  • Liaise with the CIB (Corporate & Investment Bank) for counterparty risk assessments
  • Communicate counterparty approval requests with traders, portfolio managers, business managers, trade support, product delivery, data management team, legal, etc.
  • Set up and manage thresholds in the Counterparty Management System for counterparty activities such as securities lending, FX, loan trading, reserve repos, etc. and make recommendations for counterparty risk approvals as well as manage unapproved counterparty exposures for review and escalation
  • Ongoing Risk Monitoring by way of trigger reviews and counterparty or portfolio deep dives
  • Monitor counterparty risk thresholds, and escalate the threshold breaches with risk recommendations to the AM CRO
  • Perform on-going monitoring and periodic reviews of approved counterparties (market implied credit metrics report
  • Manage day-to-day matters arising from the management and monitoring of approved credit thresholds and guidelines

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Relevant credit risk management experience and demonstrated ability to perform fundamental credit risk analysis of FI counterparties
  • Strong technical understanding of different types of counterparty risk exposures, i.e. derivatives, prime brokerage, FX, securities financing, loan trading, etc.
  • Experience in managing negotiations across counterparty legal agreements and identifying commercially sound risk provisions
  • Ability to articulate and rationalize risk recommendations and observations based on strong fundamental and technical argumentation. Demonstrable ability to think strategically and pragmatically to reach sound risk outcomes.
  • Strong presentation skills at senior executive level
  • Demonstrable ability to identify root causes and maintain a pragmatic and collaborative approach with multiple line of business stakeholders
  • Intellectually curious and able to question and pose well founded credible challenges

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • High proficiency in credit risk fundamentals and formal investment bank training
  • Strong tableau proficiency and advanced excel /power point (strong python skills desirable)
