Job summary

Administrative Support Manager working within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wing Headquarters RAF Air cadets. The job holder will be responsible for managing a wide range of administrative support functions as a member of a three person Headquarters team, enabling safe and engaging cadet activities in line with RAF Air Cadets Policy for adult volunteers and cadets across Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. The Line Manager, along with RAF Air Cadet Headquarters, can be flexible about workplace attendance and, subject to negotiation, offer a blended office and working from home environment.

Job description

General office management and administrative support to the Wing Executive Officer, volunteer staff and cadets, including

  • Oversight and management of all volunteer administration;
  • Maintaining the Wing databases and SharePoint Site;
  • Management and Oversight of all vetting, including DBS and Baseline Personnel Security Standard;
  • Liaison and oversight of external contractor work on squadron properties;
  • Administration and Oversight of the Wing Budget;
  • Providing advice and guidance to squadron staff on administration and procedural issues;
  • Supervising the activities of the Administrative Assistant; and
  • Deputising for the Wing Executive Officer during their leave and other absences.

Person specification

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • IT skills including proficient use of MS Office suite and ability to use, or learn to use, a variety of software packages, including the RAF Air Cadet Bader content management system and the MOD Clarity vehicle booking system;
  • Previous experience of working in a personnel or general administrative environment/role;
